David R. Smith, 88 years, of Allentown, formerly of New Tripoli, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at home. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Adam) Smith for 66 years last June.  Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Irvin A. and Rebecca R. (Engel) Smith.

He graduated from Perry Twp High School in 1953, East Stroudsburg University in 1957, and went on to get his Master's in Education from Lehigh University graduating in 1964.  David worked for Northwestern Lehigh School District from 1957 - 1996, as acting Principal, Assistant Principal, High School Principal from 1962 – 1982, and as a teacher from 1982 – 1996 in numerous subjects, along with being a coach and Director of Athletics.

He was in the U.S. Army Reserve 413th Postal Unit (Kutztown) from1958 – 1964.  David was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in New Tripoli, where he served on Consistory and as Consistory President.

Survivors: wife, Pat, brother, Daniel A. Smith of Shoemakersville, a niece and nephew, and cousins.

Services: A funeral service will take place at 11 AM on Friday, March 1, at Ebenezer U.C.C, 7293 Decatur St, New Tripoli.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM.  Arrangements by Keller Funeral Home, Inc., Fogelsville.  Private interment, at St. Luke's U.C.C.
