Obituary

Dieter Wentz, 77 years, of Center Valley, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at home.  He was the devoted husband of Joanne S. (Balliet) Wentz for 54 years this month.  Born in Nuremberg, Germany, he was a son of the late Marvin and Anne (Weig) Wentz.

He received his Bachelor's Degree from Moravian College, and two Masters' Degrees in Education from Kutztown University and Lehigh University.  Dieter had a dedicated career in education including teaching English and German at Parkland High School from 1962 to 1973, where he also loved his role as a Varsity Football Coach.  This was followed by a long-time commitment to Upper Bucks Vocational Technical School as the Director of Guidance Services, where he was extremely proud of the high percentage of student job placements achieved during his tenure. He retired in 1997. He gave back to institutions important to him by volunteering at Lehigh Valley Hospital in the Patient Representative's Office; and at Lehigh University volunteering in the Athletics Department to assist visitors, students and patrons. An avid walker, he would frequently enjoy taking morning walks along the paths of the Saucon Rail Trail. He was a loving father and wonderful grandfather.
