Donald C. Horning, 82 years of Orefield, went to be with his heavenly father on Father's Day, Sunday, June 19, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Shirley C. (Grim) Horning for 62 years.

Together, Donald & Shirley, owned Newton Auto Body for 39 years. Donald always had a passion for old classic cars & trucks. He enjoyed Nascar races and as a younger man raced stock cars at Dorney Park. Donald, known as "Gramps" by all who adored him had a heart full of love for his family and Jesus. He was a faithful member & elder of Glory To Glory Family Church in Kutztown where he ushered in the presence of the Lord by blowing his shofar horn. He served Holy Communion to honor his Lord's love for us. Gramps had a passion for his family & was known for his gentle, quiet spirit. He was also known for his famous chocolate chip cookies & potato filling.

Donald will be lovingly remembered & greatly missed by his wife, sons; Larry & wife Lily, Daryl & wife Gail, daughters; Patti wife of Glen Seng, Sharon wife of Denny Kern, and Bonnie wife of Bill Monks, brother, Earl Horning & wife Mert, sister, Betty Horning, grandchildren; Jeremy, Amy, Carissa, Jarrett, Brittany, Jessica, Rachel, Ryan, Brandon, Zechariah, and Abigail, great grandchildren; Skyler, Logan, Riley, Tate, Lucas, Ashton, and Carter. He was the son of the late Henry and Amanda (Yenser) Horning and was predeceased by a brother, Robert.

Services : Visitation will be from 5:00 to 6:30 P.M. on Friday, June 24 with a Celebration of Life service to follow at Kingdom Life Family Center, 4333 Lime Kiln Rd., Orefield.
