Donald W. Reinert, 82 years of Lenhartsville, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at the Laurel Center in Lenhartsville. He was the widower of L. Carol (Miller) Reinert who passed away last August. Born in New Tripoli, he was a son of the late George H. and Luella (Snyder) Reinert. He graduated from Kutztown Area High School in 1956, Penn State University in 1960, with a Bachelor of Science in Ag Ed. Donald went on to do postgraduate work at Penn State, East Stroudsburg Univ., and Univ. of Minnesota. He was a vocational agriculture teacher in the Pen Argyl School District from 1960-65 and the Kutztown Area School District from 1965-90. Donald went on to be a nutrient management specialist for the Berks Co. Conservation District from 1992-2004. He did private consulting for environmental assessments of poultry farms for Environmental Management Solutions, LLC in Des Moines, Iowa for 3 years. Donald also was a partner on his family's farm from 1996 to the present. He was in the Army Reserves from 1956-1964 where he was involved in constructing the Stone Valley Recreation Area and was a pianist for the Sunday Church services. As a member of Weisenberg Lutheran Church, Donald was past President and served on Church Council, he was President of the Sunday school and taught for more than 50 years and was on the Sunday School Orchestra for more than 50 years. Throughout his life Donald was involved in many different organizations. He was a member of the Kempton Lions Club where he previously served as President and Secretary, the Lions Club International, receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow. He served as past President of the Kutztown Ground Hog Lodge #15 & PA German Fersommling, past Secretary of the Grossdaadi Ground Hog Lodge, and he was a Hunter Safety instructor for the PA Game Commission for more than 20 years. Donald was also a State Officer with the PA Vocational Agriculture Teachers Assoc., the past Livestock Superintendent, and current Director Emeritus for the Kutztown Fair Assoc. He was an advisor for the Kutztown Young Farmer's Assoc. for 20 years, a Public Speaker for the PA German Dialect, and a member of both the Kempton Fire Co. and the Weisenberg Lowhill Historical Society.
Survivors: Daughter, Lisa Reinert of Quakertown; Sons, Wayne Reinert of Lenhartsville and Paul Reinert, wife Mary of Kensington, CT; Brother, Sterling Reinert, wife Doreen of Slatington; Sister, Lucille Heintzelman of New Tripoli; Grandchildren, Michelle and Cynthia Reinert of CT, Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Reynold Reinert and wife Grace and brother in law, Dennis Heintzelman.
Services: 11:30 AM, Saturday, June 26 at Weisenberg Lutheran Church, 7645 Weisenberg Church Rd., New Tripoli, with the Rev. Jerel Gade officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville and on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Church.
