Obituary

Dorothy M. "Zelda" Diehl, 83 years, of South Whitehall Township, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at home.  She was happily married to David W. Diehl for 56 years until his passing in October of 2019.  Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Grace (Kovach) Mikylychak.

Dorothy graduated from Parkland High School in 1955, where she was the head cheerleader and played the clarinet in the school band.  She worked for the former Bell Telephone Co. in Allentown, for the former Parkland Beverage in Schnecksville, and for Dr. Robert Smith at his dental practice.  Along with her husband and children, she learned to ski at the former Apple Hill in Orefield.

She was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church in Orefield, where she sang on the choir for many years, as her husband, Dave, played the organ.  Dorothy loved going on road trips and antiquing with her husband.  She enjoyed working in her flower garden and was an amazing baker. She was known as "the candy lady" for always sharing treats with staff at her favorite spots, and she made everyone feel welcome in her home. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She was fun, kind, and loving, and will be missed by many.
