Obituary

Edith Mae (Shaver) Smale, 84 years, of Whitehall Township, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at Fellowship Manor in Whitehall. She was the wife of Richard Maurice Smale. They were married on September 6, 1958 and celebrated their 59 th wedding anniversary last September. She was born in Mount Union, Huntington County, Pa. on December 20, 1933 to the late Charles Wesley and Kathleen [Bricker] Shaver.

Edie graduated from Captain Jack High School in Mount Union, PA, Class of 1951 . She was a Salesclerk at Weis Markets in Mt. Union and worked in the Offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., the Bureau of Workman's Compensation in Harrisburg, and Stuyvesant Insurance Co. (General Acceptance Corp.) in Allentown . Edie was a member of Ziegels Lutheran Church in Breinigsville. She enjoyed reading, traveling and her pet poodles.

Survivors: In addition to her husband, Dick, sister, Thelma J. Coccagna of Chambersburg, nephew, Michael Schiffer and wife Cindy of Allentown, nieces, Susan Guth and husband Ron of Emmaus, Michele Myers and husband Lorne, Carisa McMillin and husband Preston, Jennifer Armstrong and husband Chad, and Heidi Pisle and husband Ralph, of the Chambersburg area.

Services: 1:30 PM on Friday, April 6 at Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Interment will take place at Ziegels Union Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.KellerFuneralHomes.com .
