Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Bittner, 89, of Fogelsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2023. She died peacefully with family next to her. She was born in Bethlehem, to Katie Smith and James Wenner on January 17, 1934. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband Paul. She is survived by her children, Kay Finch and husband Benton of Richmond, TX, Karl Bittner and wife Valerie of Bethlehem, and Larry Bittner and wife Connie of New Tripoli, 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Hannah, Sarah, Adam, Derrell and Melinda, and 14 great grandchildren. Betty also leaves behind a sister, brother and sister in law, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was a 1951 graduate of Slatington High School where she met Paul H. Bittner. They married in 1951 and had 58 years together before his death in 2009. They worked on their farm in Germansville, raising animals and crops, along with the help of their young family. Betty was an accomplished Seamstress and an avid reader, which is what led her to work in the Northwestern Lehigh Elementary Library for 9 years. With an aptitude for numbers, she later worked at H &R Block for more than 30 years. Betty touched the lives of many and will be missed dearly by family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 5 at Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irvin Rd, Slatington. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM. Interment, Church Cemetery.
