Evan Schaffer, 11 years, of Breinigsville, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Born in Allentown, he was the son of David S. and Beth A. (Leyden) Schaffer of Breinigsville.
Evan was a strong, compassionate and fun loving boy who will be missed by both family and friends. He was a protective older brother, always watching out for his younger sisters who he loved dearly. He enjoyed all sports and played soccer and basketball. He loved riding his four wheeler and picking his sisters up from the bus on his jeep. He was a master of many games, including Kings in the Corner, Chess, Quirkle, and Mario Cart. He was a great joke teller and magician. Evan was a determined boy, smiling every day as he faced each new adversity and never giving up. Evan and his family were members of St. Thomas More Church in Allentown.
Survivors: parents, David and Beth Schaffer; sisters, Kayla and Jenna, at home; maternal grandparents, James and Janet (Weber) Leyden of Breinigsville; paternal grandfather, Dennis D. Schaffer and partner, Linda Leibenguth of Breinigsville; aunts and uncles: Colleen Haas, husband Kurt of Orefield; Amy Leibenguth, husband Troy of Fogelsville; Jonathan Leyden, wife Darlene of Alburtis; cousins, Ryan, Logan, Ashley, Mantana, Shane, and Emma. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Judith S. (Kloiber) Schaffer.
Services: Memorial Mass 11:00 AM Thursday, October 18 at St. Thomas More Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown, PA 18103. There will be no calling hours. Online condolences may be offered to the family at
