Frederick K. Kitson, 90 years, of Macungie passed away on June 9, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Grim) Kitson for 41 years in May and the late Jane E. (Heller) Kitson. Fred was a son of the late Harold and Margaret (Holder) Kitson.
He graduated from Springfield High School in Erdenheim, PA, in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve at age 17 serving on active duty in the Pacific. He was discharged in 1946. Fred graduated from Lehigh University earning a BSIE and worked at Air Products and Chemicals for 26 years until retiring in 1983. He started a Safety Consulting business which included overseas travel, retiring for the second time in 1998. During his career, he served on an Industry Association Committee (Compressed Gas Association) and on a National Fire Protection Association Committee, serving six years as Chairman. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and would say "his life was as good as it gets".
Survivors: Wife, Barbara; son F. Lee and wife Dawn of New Tripoli; 3 daughters, Margaret (Peg) Knowles of Winter Garden, FL, Susan Haas and husband Tim of Maxatawny, and Gail H. Kitson of Allentown; 3 step-sons, Donald Fritzinger and wife Amy of Breinigsville, James Fritzinger and wife Anne of Waynesboro and Richard Fritzinger and wife Sandra of New Tripoli; 10 grandchildren, Angela Breidinger, Heather Klotz, Erik Knowles, Jane Vieira, Hillary Zoccola, Benjamin Haas, Carrie Santoro, Nathaniel Haas, Christian Fenstermacher and Andrew Kitson; 2 step-grandsons, Michael and Mark Fritzinger; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Harold, Peter and Edward (Ted) Kitson.
Services: Private services will be held at Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. Interment will be private with Military Honors presented by the American Legion of Topton. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.KellerFuneralHomes.com .
