George E. Schlegel, 96, of New Tripoli, passed away on December 24, 2025. He was the husband of Nancy J. (Leibensperger) Schlegel for 58 years this past August. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George and Emily (Riefsnyder) Schlegel.

He was a graduate of Allentown High School. George was a mechanic for Mack Trucks for 28 years and was a member of the United Automobile Workers of America. George honorably served as a Corporal in the United States Army 1st Cavalry Division during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and enjoyed woodworking and bird watching. George loved his cats, Mr. Peepers and Mini-Me.

Survivors: wife, Nancy, daughter, Lori Schlegel-Kees of Hummelstown, step-son, Robert Wolfe (Rebecca) of Kempton, grandchildren, Owen Kees and Erin Miller.

The Funeral Service will take place at 11 AM on Monday, January 12 at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. The Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM. Interment, Ebenezer Cemetery with Military Honors. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.KellerFuneralHomes.com.
