Gerald F.
"Jerry" Dugal
May 31, 1960 — Jan 7, 2026
Gerald Flint Dugal, known to family and friends as Jerry, passed away at the age of 65. Jerry was a devoted family man, a dedicated public servant, and a person of deep passions and quiet compassion.
Born in Woodside, New York, Jerry was the son of Eleanor and John Dugal. He grew up with strong values rooted in hard work, resilience, and responsibilities – qualities that shaped every chapter of his life.
Jerry spent many years in service to New York City as a Principal Parks Supervisor with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, retiring after a career marked by dedication and pride in preserving the city's green spaces for the enjoyment of future generations. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, and his strong work ethic was one of his defining traits.
He found joy in his many passions, including collecting guitars, reading—especially Tom Clancy novels—and music, which offered him a quiet refuge. Jerry also had a lifelong love for dogs and was known for regularly bringing home rescue animals, giving them comfort and a second chance.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Gloria Saha Dugal. He was a proud and loving father to Vanessa Wilson (Brad), Tanya Dugal, and Max Dugal (Sonia). Jerry was a devoted grandfather to Jessica Austin; Tyler, Savannah, Henry, and Eleanor Wilson; Samantha and Coralyn Buffham; and Amelia and Alana Dugal. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Alice and Sophia Austin.
Jerry is also survived by his older brother, Jeffrey Dugal (Lisa), and his younger sister, Nora Callahan (Michael).
Jerry's legacy lives on through the family he loved, the work he dedicated himself to, the animals he rescued, and the memories shared by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his strength, his devotion, and the deep love he held for his family.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
