Henry L. Stampfel, 90 years, of Allentown, formerly of Seaford, NY, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Inpatient Hospice Unit. He was the beloved husband of Joan M. (Stears) Stampfel for 65 years this past June. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was a son of the late Louis and Sophie (Stampfl) Stampfel.
He worked for the Schlitz and Schaefer Brewery in Brooklyn, NY in packaging and continued working for the Schaefer and Strohs Brewery in Fogelsville. Henry honorably and proudly served his country in the Army Air Force as a Radio Mechanic during WWII. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Orefield. Henry enjoyed watching the NY Mets.
Survivors: wife, five children; Lorraine, wife of Tom Rao of Bohemia, NY, Maureen, wife of Wayne Maskiell of St. James, NY, Henry and wife Anne of Massapequa, NY, Tim and wife Sheree of Easton, and Nadine wife of Todd Rizzuto of Breinigisville, 12 loving grandchildren and 6 loving great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Stampfel and a sister, Sophie Tscherne.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 11 A.M., Monday, September 9, 2013 at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1879 Applewood Dr., Orefield, with the Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Wargo as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M. in the Church. Another visitation will be on Tuesday, September 10, from 2-4 P.M and 7-9 P.M. at Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford. Interment will take place on Wednesday, September 11, at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY. Arrangements by Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville.
