J. Julian Familia, 36 years old, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Emmaus. Born in Jersey City, NJ he was a son of Jose Familia of Orefield and Maria (Medina) Garcia of Florida. Julian volunteered for the Emmaus Fire Department and worked as an EMT for the Emmaus Ambulance Corps. Previously he was a police officer for the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department. Julian was a member of the Emmaus Lodge No. 792 F. & A.M. Survivors : Father and step mother, Jose and Rita, mother, Maria, paternal grandmother, who raised him, Evida Morales of Allentown, children, Evan, Jax, Liana, and April, brother, David Familia of Orefield, sister, Cynthia Familia of Florida, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step-brother, Carlos Berra. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 11 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield . A visitation will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 10, at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. There will be a calling hour on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Church prior to the service. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Allentown.
