Obituary

Jacqueline Elizabeth "Jackie" Wehr, aged 82 of Whitehall Township, passed away on Friday May 24, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice Unit. Born in Bethlehem, she was the only daughter of John F. and Irene R. (Papp/Bobb) Nemeth. She was the wife of Dr. William H. Wehr for 59 years. Jackie was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She started work at Bethlehem Steel and was later employed at IBM and in the Human Resources Department of Lehigh Valley Hospital for over 20 years.

Jackie was talented at several hobbies including baking, embroidery, knitting and quilting – some of which earned her blue ribbons at the Allentown Fair. As a Master Gardener her greatest joy was her extraordinary garden on Loral Lane in Orefield which she created with Bill. Jackie was proud of her Hungarian ancestry and those that knew her recognized that in her personality. She loved spending time at the beach in Chincoteague and together with Bill was lucky to travel to all corners of the globe. Jackie was a regular volunteer helping at Second Harvest Food Bank, Prayers and Squares, and repairing homes after Hurricane Katrina.

Jackie leaves behind her husband, Dr. William Wehr, daughters, Allison Wehr Elterich (Stefan Elterich) and Lori Young (Jonathan Young), and her grandchildren Ethan, Arden, and Asa Elterich. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Young.
