James F. Stine, 67 years, of Pocono Pines, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was the husband of Leslie H. (Hertz) Stine for 35 years this past May. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late John F., Jr. and Louise S. (Fritz) Stine.
Jim graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a M.S. in Civil Engineering. He was an Environmental Engineer who specialized in electrical power generation issues. Jim worked for Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L), Allentown, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BG&E), Baltimore, MD, and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), Arlington, VA. He retired in May 2012, and Jim and Leslie moved from Annapolis, MD to Pocono Pines. He loved being in nature, swimming, boating, fly fishing, skiing, and spending time with family and friends. Jim was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Pocono Pines.
Survivors: wife, brother, John F., III and wife Barbara of Odessa, FL, mother-in-law, Marilyn Hertz of FL, brothers-in-law, Jerry Hertz and wife Jessica Waldman of Boulder, CO, Ron Hertz and wife Deb Messling of Bethlehem, nieces and nephews, Bryan and Michelle Cusma, Ilana and Shiloh Hertz, great nieces and nephew, Lauryn, Kristyn, and Anthony Cusma.
Services: 9:30 AM, Saturday, December 2, at Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville with the Rev. Michael P. Lonergan officiating. Interment will be immediately following in Grandview Cemetery in Allentown. A Memorial Service will take place at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 3, at Salem United Church of Christ, 108 Church St., Pocono Pines. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Salem United Church of Christ, salemunitedchurchofchrist.org or to Congregation B'nai Harim, bnaiharimpoconos.org .
