Joanne L. Hemmis, 89 years of Orefield, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. She was the widow of John B. Hemmis. Born in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ione (Lindsey) Carter.

As a registered nurse she worked at the former Allentown General Hospital and at Phoebe Nursing Home for 27 years. Joanne loved spending time with her family.

Survivors: children, Denise Klinefelter (Randy) of Orefield, C. Scott Hemmis (Tammy) of Slatington, grandchildren, Lyndsey, Jocelyn, Jon, Kaitlin, and Jacob; and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Carter.
