Obituary

Lillie Mae George, 91 years, of Fogelsville, passed away on Friday, December 30, at LVHN Cedar Crest. She was the widow of Maurice A. George who passed in 2007. Born in Greenwich Twp., and named after her beloved maternal grandmother, Lillie was the daughter of the late Melvin and Estella (Heister) Merkel.

Lillie actively participated in many social organizations throughout her life. She was the Formaeschdern (president) of the Drei-Kounty Weibsleit Fersommling, a Pennsylvania Dutch cultural organization. Lillie was a former Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth Allentown Court#19 and a member of the Dorothy Lim Mem Court #110. She was the former president of the North End Rod and Gun Club Ladies Auxiliary, member of the Order of the Eastern Star East Penn Chapter #336 and Cub Scout Den Mother. Lillie was also a member of the former Lady Lillie Rebekah Lodge in Fogelsville. She was also a frequent contributor -known as Lillie of the Valley-to the TAP media broadcast. Lillie was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in New Tripoli for 70 years.

Survivors: She is survived by sons, Robert and wife Janice of Wichita Falls, Texas and Roger of Hudson, Massachusetts; Grandchildren, Lt. Col. Kerry George and wife Christina of Dumfries, Virginia, and Marian Wade of Wichita Falls, Texas; Great-grandchildren, Savannah Grace, Jacob, Christopher, Alexander and Isabella George all of Dumfries, VA; Niece, Linda (Merkel) Reichard wife of Raymond of Mohrsville. She was predeceased by brother, Irwin Merkel of Lenhartsville.

Services: Thursday, January 5, at 11:00 A.M., at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville with the Rev. Kevin E. Fruchtl officiating. Interment will follow in Fogelsville Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.KellerFuneralHomes.com.
