Lorene M. Southworth's Obituary
Lorene M. Southworth, 89 years, formerly of New Tripoli and Allentown, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at Kirkland Village in Bethlehem. She was the wife of George F. Southworth for 61 years last October. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Blanche (Johnson) Myers of Springfield, Delaware County, PA.
Lorene received her Bachelor of Arts from Hood College in Frederick, MD. After graduation she went on to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where she was one of the first two women to receive their Masters of Business Administration. Lorene worked in the Personnel Dept. for Rohm and Haas and then became the Human Resource Director for WB Saunders Co. in Philadelphia. She went on to work in the Personnel Dept for Crown, Cork & Seal in Baltimore. After moving to the Lehigh Valley she was a substitute teacher in the Northwestern Lehigh School District for 8 years. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Allentown and a Girl Scout Troop leader in New Tripoli. Lorene sat on the Board of Trustees for Lehigh Carbon Community College, where she also served as Treasurer and Vice President. She loved to travel and did so extensively with her husband, visiting over 60 countries. She enjoyed reading, woodworking and cooking, and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors : husband, George F. daughter, Lorene "Lori" C. Southworth and her husband Gary Greb of Baltimore, son, George F., Jr. and his wife Brenda of Blue Bell, grandchildren, Griffin, Gillian, and Tyler.
Services : A Memorial Service at Kirkland Village will be announced at a future date. Arrangements by Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville. Online condolences may be offered at www.KellerFuneralHomes.com.
