Margaret B.
Boyle
Mar 15, 1933 — Dec 28, 2017
Margaret Bridget Boyle was born March 15, 1933, and joined her mother, Madge, and father, John Francis, in heaven on December 28, 2017. "Peggy" as she was known was born in New York City and lived in the Inwood section of Manhattan almost her entire life. The later years of her life she lived in Bronxville, NY and then in Pennsylvania to be close to her brother, John Boyle, and his son, Sean. Peggy attended Good Shepard ES, Sacred Heart of Mary HS, Manhattanville College and then Columbia University for her MS in Library Science. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of things which always made her the top draft pick when Trivial Pursuit was played at family gatherings.
P
eggy spent thirty plus years being a librarian in the New York City Public School System. She worked mostly at James Monroe HS and George Washington HS. Her calm demeanor and her sincere desire to help allowed to her to touch the lives of her students. In her later years, Peggy moved out to Pennsylvania. She lived at Sacred Heart Assisted Living and then Bethlehem Manor.
Besides education, Peggy's other passion was traveling. She traveled extensively around the world to experience other cultures and to meet new people. Most of her travels were shared with her best friend, Jane Roe, who shared Peggy's love of new experiences. Additionally, her apartment in NYC was considered to be the Inwood version of Ellis Island as any Irish relatives passing through would stay with her, with some even taking up extended residences. Her two Irish "guests" that she was most fond of were Seamus Mansfield and Michael Van Dessel as they brought great joy to her with their many adventures together.
