Obituary

Mary Jane Mohr of Trexlertown, formerly of Fogelsville, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at the age of 91. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to all those who have cared for this loving woman in her past years of declining health; especially all those at Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown, and her daughter-in-law Sue and son Lyle who have been the center of her support system. She and her husband of 67 years, Donald Miller Mohr, had resided together at Mosser Nursing Home until his death on September 22, 2009. Prior to that they both enjoyed living in Allentown on Americus Drive.

Mary Jane (Clark) Mohr was born November 12, 1921 in Spokane, WA to Lyle Hamilton Clark Sr. and Lucille (Beck) (Clark) Curtis.

Mary grew-up in Spokane with a great love of ice skating and won honors in figure skating for her solo and pair's competition with her brother. She attended the all-girls Stephens College in Columbia, MO where she acquired a love of competitive horse jumping and riding. It was at a college social event that she met a young Lt. Donald Miller Mohr from Fogelsville, PA, who was stationed at a local military base and they married on July 8, 1942. Donald and Mary traveled to many military bases during his time in the army, ending up in Culver City, CA where they ran a professional photograph studio that served many Hollywood notables. They later moved back to Fogelsville, PA to help Donald's father Frank J. Mohr in the Mohr Orchards business. She later took great pleasure in developing the Mohrs Hobbyland Luncheonette business where she got to help many local high school girls get their first jobs. She was also very active in the Delaware Valley Hobby Association and the Spray Beach Yatch Club of Long Beach Island, NJ. One of her often quoted accomplishments was winning a target rifle competition at one of the many Rod and Gun clubs where she and her husband were members and getting her own trophy to put next to all of his winning, but even more so being able to say the she had "out shot her husband"! She was able to return to her love of horses when they purchased their horse farm, Twinbrook Farms, in Kutztown, PA., which is now operated by their youngest son Lyle Frank Mohr.

Survivors: sons, Donald Miller Mohr Jr. and wife Sandra Lee (Rembold) of Austin, TX, Robert Clark Mohr and wife Chris (Raffell) of Bangor, PA, and Lyle Frank Mohr and wife Sue Louise (Balley) of Kutztown, PA. Her grandchildren; Patty Hahn, Cindy Harchar, their mother Linda (Roth) (Mohr) Klaube who was a frequent visitor and caregiver at the nursing home, plus grandchildren; Nicholas, Jaclyn, Frank, and Chayse Mohr, and great grandchildren; Shannon and Cody Hahn, and Scott and Kelli Harchar, sister Alice Louise (Curtis) Pohlen of Oceanside, CA.
