Mildred E. L. Gehringer, 88 years, of Kutztown, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 at home. She was married to the late Harold R. Gehringer for 68 years before his passing in 2018. Born in Maxatawny Township, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Cora C. (Mertz) Wessner.
Mildred devoted much of her life to caring for her family. She especially loved caring for children, and her home was warm, welcoming place for many young people over the years. She was the co-owner of Four Springs Farms, where she worked all her life. Mildred also worked at the former Mohr's Orchards for many years and at Weisenberg Elementary School as a cook. For over 50 years, she was a member of the Seipstown Grange where she served on the board as an officer in various positions and was a member of their cooking team. Mildred loved to travel throughout the United States, including Hawaii, Europe, and the Caribbean, most recently taking different bus trips. She was a member of Ziegels Lutheran Church in Breinigsville.
Survivors: Son, Kenneth H. Gehringer and wife Diane of Kutztown, grandchildren, Wyatt Gehringer and wife Leah, Cyrus Gehringer and wife Jenny, and Charles Isamoyer and wife Devin; great grandchildren, Wes, Ashtyn, Wade, and John; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Isamoyer, and brothers, Wayne and Alfred Wessner.
Services: A visitation will take place from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 13 at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. The funeral service will take place at 10:30 AM at Ziegels Lutheran Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Rd., Breinigsville, with the Rev. Andrew Meckstroth officiating. Interment, Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.KellerFuneralHomes.com. Please note that state guidelines will be followed, limiting the number of people allowed inside the building at the same time. Face masks will be required, and social distancing will occur.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ziegels Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, c/o the Funeral Home, PO Box 52, Fogelsville, 18051.
