Orville H. "Obie" Freitag, 75 years of Allentown, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice Unit in Allentown. He was the husband of Karen (Theodore) Freitag for 21 years last April. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Orville H., Sr. and Florence (Neuner) Freitag.
He retired in 2014 from FedEx SmartPost in Breinigsville, PA as Senior Human Resources Business Partner. Obie previously held Human Resources, Management and Financial positions in the Commercial Banking (Merchants Bank & Lehigh Valley Bank) and Manufacturing (Delbar Products, Allison Manufacturing & Phoenix Clothes) industries. He was a member of the Sertoma Club, Allentown Lions Club, Alton Park Lions Club, Marine Band of Allentown (20+years as trumpet player; still active), Jordan Sinfonia at Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church (40+years as trumpet player), the American Legion Post 200 Hampstead, MD, and the Society for Human Resource Management – Lehigh Valley Chapter.
He honorably served 6 years in the US Army Reserve and PA Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. Obie has an Associate in Liberal Arts degree from Lehigh County Community College, a Bachelor's degree in Professional Studies – Business Management from Elizabethtown College, and a Master's in Business Administration degree from Saint Joseph's College.
Survivors: wife, Karen, daughter, Sara Collins (Brad) of Fogelsville, son, Michael of Allentown, stepson, Todd Theodore (Bevin) of Lower Macungie, sister, Belle Graver (Chris) of Easley, SC, brothers, Nick Freitag (Cindy) of Mt. Airy, NC, Bill Freitag (Diane) of Easley, SC, Del Freitag (Jimmie) of Easley, SC; grandchildren, Andrew, Ava, Ella, Eli, and Claire, nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will take place at 11 AM, on Tuesday, October 17, at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 1700 Airport Rd, Allentown. Arrangements by Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.KellerFuneralHomes.com.
