Obituary

Ralph P. Gruber, 85 years, formerly of Fogelsville, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Country Meadows in Upper Macungie Twp.  He was the widower of Anna Mae (Griffi) Gruber.  Born in Heidelberg Township, he was a son of the late Robert C. and Iva M. (Snyder) Gruber.

Ralph was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local #542 for 24 years, until he retired in 1995 and prior to that for Penn Dot for 12 years.  He also worked for Keller Funeral Homes, Inc. for over 20 years in various positions.  Ralph was a Constable for Weisenberg Twp for 24 years, a Deputy Sheriff for Lehigh County for 8 years, and was president of the former Emergency Police, Inc. for 15 years. He was a member of Weisenberg Lutheran Church, where he was the financial secretary for 24 years, on Church council for 27 years, and sang on the choir for many years.  Ralph was also the sexton of the Church for 5 years and president of the Cemetery Assoc. for 32 years. He was a member of the Saucon Lodge #469 F. & A.M., the Lehigh Consistory, and the Rajah Shrine of Reading.

Survivors: Son, Forrest R. Gruber and his wife Sharon, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and his companion Jean.  Ralph was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne, siblings, George, Elmer, and Howard Gruber and Edna Bailey, Mary Boger, and Eva Herber.

Services: A visitation will take place on Sunday, January 31 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St, Fogelsville. State guidelines will be followed limiting the number of people allowed inside the building.  Face masks will be required, and social distancing will occur.  There will be a private service with the Rev.
