Obituary

Robert B. Geiger, 87 years, of Germansville, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 31, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Ruth A. (Snyder) Geiger for 60 years last June. Born in Saegersville, he was a son of the late Charles B. and Roma E. (Peters) Geiger.

Robert worked as a farmer all his life at Geiger Farms; first for his father, then as a partner with his brother, and finally with his wife Ruth.  He was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of Heidelberg Union Church in Slatington, where he sang in the choir. Robert was an active director of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society. He was a member of the Central Grange #1650 for more than 70 years and a life member of the Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club.  Robert was a member of the Heidelberg Game Protective Assoc., the Jr. OUAM New Tripoli #204, and a life member of both the Germansville and New Tripoli Fire Companies.

Other memberships include the Slatington Lodge #440 F. & A.M., the Allen-Beauceant Commandery No. 20 Knights Templar, the Slatington Royal Arch Chapter #292, the Rajah Shrine of Reading, and he was a 32 nd Degree Mason with the Lehigh Consistory.  Robert was a 1949 graduate of Slatington High School where he played in the band. At that time, he also participated in the Egypt Band and the New Tripoli Male Chorus.

Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson. He enjoyed hunting, deep sea fishing and clamming; and loved hosting clam bakes for his friends and workers on the farm.

Survivors: wife, Ruth; daughters Anne L., wife of Robert Hicks, Jr. of Saegersville and Susan R., wife of Gary Day of Germansville; grandchildren Erynn, Samuel, and Claudia Day, Elizabeth Moyer and husband Sean, Robbie Hicks; and great grandson, Jack Robert. He was preceded in death by a brother, Reuben.

Private Services .  Interment Heidelberg Cemetery in Slatington. Arrangements have been entrusted to Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.KellerFuneralHomes.com .
