Obituary

Sherman R. Peters, 78 years of Germansville, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at home.  He was the husband of Jan Sutermeister for 14 years last January. Born December 11, 1945, in Allentown, on a PA Dutch farm, he was a son of the late Levi and Ida (Sherer) Peters.

The youngest of 11 brothers and sisters, he graduated from Parkland HS in 1963.  He went on to serve in the US Army and was a radio operator stationed in Korea.  Upon his return he joined the Heat and Frost Insulators Local 23 in 1968, training to be an insulation mechanic, holding himself to the highest standards of craftsmanship.  He continued to serve in the US Army Reserves for many years.  His hard-work ethic and values led him to start his own business in 1986, eventually retiring in 2010.  Sherm enjoyed music, whether playing the guitar or singing his favorite Elvis songs especially "My Way".  He enjoyed camping, traveling, wood working, and volunteering his time to help others. He was a reserved man of few words.  He will forever be remembered and cherished by all that were fortunate to have known him.
