Shirley Ann Cheverie Hale, a beloved wife, mother, mimi, and friend, was born on July 18, 1945, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of the late Augustine and Marion (Silva) Cheverie. She passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, after 80 years of sharing her love and blessings with the world.
She worked for Hartford Supplemental Health Insurance in Fogelsville for 11 years as well as the Teamsters and was also a former hairdresser and Salon owner. Shirley was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, in Orefield, where she taught catechism for 9 years. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening, making custom chocolates and loved going to the beach. Most of all she truly loved being a grandmother.
Shirley was a guiding light to all who knew her, bringing warmth, joy, and compassion into every life she touched. She will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and radiant smile, always making others feel seen, valued and deeply loved.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Bruce Richard Hale. She also leaves behind her four cherished children: Jeffrey Alan Hale, Judson Benjamin Hale, Bruce Richard Hale II, and Eileen Patricia Hale. Shirley was a proud and loving Mimi to her five grandchildren: Jonathan, Lilac, Madelyn, Kiai, and J.T. She is further survived by her two brothers, Joseph Cheverie and Frank Cheverie; and two sisters, Peg Cheverie Frazier and Donna Cheverie Fahey, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Services: A viewing will take place from 6:30 to 8 PM on Thursday, May 7 at Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville and from 10:30 to 11 AM on Friday, May 8 at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1879 Applewood Dr., Orefield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fellowship Manor Benevolent Fund or the Alzheimer's Assoc, in care of the Funeral Home, PO Box 52, Fogelsville, PA 18051.
