Velma M. Sittler, 91 years, of Slatington, formerly of New Tripoli, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Inpatient Hospice Unit, in Allentown. She was the last of 10 siblings born to Calvin and Bertha (Snyder) Sittler in New Tripoli.
She was a long time cook at Fatzinger's Hotel in New Tripoli, at the former Moselem Springs Inn in Fleetwood, and finally for the Northwestern Lehigh School District. Velma was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rose Croix Chapter #235. She was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in New Tripoli.
Survivors: Daughter, Mary Ann, wife of Howard Bowers with whom she resided, granddaughter-in-law, Sharon L. (Hahn) Bowers of Lehighton, great-grandchildren; Jeremy A. and Kevin C. Stein, and Gene Aaron Bowers, great-great-grandchildren; Nolan, Mackenzie, Keegan, and Layla, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson Eugene LeRoy Bowers and 9 brothers and sisters.
Services: 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 25, at Ebenezer U.C.C., 7293 Decatur St., New Tripoli, with the Rev. Kevin E. Fruchtl officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M in the Church.
