Obituary

Virginia Dare Schiffer, 80, of Allentown, passed away at home on August 15, 2012. She was married to Calvin Schiffer for fifty-four years before he passed away in 2007. Born in Weisenberg Twp., she was the daughter of the late William and Grace (Wambold) Smale.

A 1949 graduate of South Whitehall High School, a graduate of Allentown Hospital School of Nursing class of 1952 and a 1972 graduate of East Stroudsburg University, she was a school nurse and Chairperson of Health Services in the Allentown School District before retiring in 1993. Virginia was a member of Ziegels Lutheran Congregation until age 75 when she became a member of Jordan United Church of Christ in Walberts. She was active in volunteer work benefitting the Parkland Community Library and was a member of the Board of Friends of Parkland Community Library. She was very supportive of Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Survivors: Daughter Susan, wife of Ronald Guth of Emmaus; Son Michael and wife Cynthia of Allentown; Brother Richard Smale and wife Edith of Allentown; Grandchildrn Becky wife of Austin Davis, David Guth, Jana wife of Cory Parsons, Laura wife of Matt Rapa, Becky wife of Eddie Segovis and Tracey wife of Chris Seidel; Great-grandchildren, Cameron Parsons, Ashley Davis, Hunter Parsons, Austin Davis II, Mia Segovis and baby Tristen Seidel due in November.

Services: 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 21, at Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Rd., Allentown with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. in the church and Monday, 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. Interment will take place in church cemetery. Contributions to the church 18104 or Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., Allentown, PA 18104. .

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church, 18069.
